I am a 5 foot tall, 105 pound, 22 year old woman who fought fires last summer in northern California and am going to work for the national park service after I graduate from college next month. Julie created an exercise program just for me which helped me pass the tough physical mountain obstacle course test for firefighting. I am still pretty proud that a few big, strong guys didn’t do as well as I did. Julie not only helped me get to my goal and feel better about myself. She also made it fun and challenging at the same time!

I began working with Julie Ortman in one of her group exercise classes. I am NOT an exercise buff, I just wanted to pursue some self improvement and my doctor was on my case about exercising to improve my bone density and over all health. It was a huge surprise to me that with Julie’s expert help, I made tremendous improvements in core strength, muscle tone, and balance. After two years in her group class, and significantly improving my bone density test, I decided to move up to working with Julie one-on-one. It was a good decision for me, and I was surprised again at how much I improved in my workouts. I had no idea I could do what Julie has me doing! I find that Julie has improved the quality of my life.

I never knew working out could be interesting and fun, not to mention educational. My previous trainer stuck to a list of exercises and never varied the routine. Julie makes each session unique. I have been with Julie and Custom Fitness since the end of 2006 and I look forward to every workout. Each one is fresh and challenging. I have not hit a plateau yet, I still see growth and progress. The new gym has added a lot of floor, wall and ceiling space for our workouts, room for medicine ball slams and tosses, space for lunges without dodging people and things and plenty of room to push weights around the facility.
After one of our first workouts, I was dripping with sweat and my arms were shaking. Julie asked me how the workout was. She had left me just enough energy to pop-off and say "kind of Walmart" She has never forgotten and she has not let me forget it either. It's a joke to us now but be careful what you say when you get started!
